Objectives

The Gayo Lues Tourism Department formulates and implements policies relating to the tourism, culture, and creative economy sector. Its mission is for the conservation and development of Gayo Lues tourism by establishing an ethic of transparency in the government and its policies.

Introduction

The Gayo Lues Tourism Department is led by a head who supervises four divisions:

  1. Secretariat: Led by the Secretary and comprised of two subdivisions.
  1. Division of Tourism: Led by the head of the tourism division and comprised of three subdivisions, each with its own head:
  • Tourism business development subdivision
  • Marketing and promotion of tourism subdivision
  • Development of tourism destinations subdivision
  1. Division of Culture
  • Customs subdivision
  • Cultural arts management subdivision
  • History, archeology, and museum subdivision
  1. Division of Creative Economy
  • Creative economy based on arts and culture subdivision
  • Creative economy based on media design and science and technology subdivision
  • Coordination and facilitation subdivision
Major Activities

The Gayo Lues Tourism Department is a government office in Gayo Lues concerned with:

  1. Tourism business development:
  • carrying out inventories in the tourism businesses
  • conducting training, coaching, and socialization with tourism entrepreneurs
  • coordinating tourism associations, such as PHRI, ASITA, PHI etc;
  1. Marketing and promotion of tourism:
  • mapping the potential of tourism investment
  • mapping market segments and marketing strategies
  • promoting tourism through exhibitions and performances
  • coordinating with stakeholders and institutions for the development of the tourism market;
  1. Development of tourism destinations:
  • collecting data from tourist destinations
  • implementing research to develop tourist destinations
  • improving the quality and quantity of tourist destinations;
  1. Customs:
  • carrying out inventories, reviews, publications, and documentation of customs in Gayo Lues
  • creating the Development Institute of Traditional and Indigenous Village
  1. Cultural arts management:
  • carrying out inventories, reviews, publications, and documentation of culture and arts in Gayo Lues
  • hosting performances of traditional culture
  • developing the management of art and culture through comparative studies and training
  • improving and developing research partnerships in culture and arts;
  1. History, archeology, and museum:
  • carrying out inventories, reviews, publications, and documentation of history and archeology in Gayo Lues;
  • conducting seminars for studying history and archeology
  • implementing safeguards, maintenance and use of objects of cultural heritage (BCB), Heritage of Cultural Property (WBB) and the World Cultural Heritage (WBD);
  • developing the management of archeology and museums through comparative studies and training;
  1. Creative economy based on arts and culture:
  • carrying out inventories, reviews, publications, and documentation of creative economy business based on arts and culture in Gayo Lues;
  • developing creative economy businesses based on arts and culture
  • hosting exhibitions and performances of creative economy businesses based on arts and culture;
  1. Creative economy based on media design and science and technology:
  • carrying out inventories, reviews, publications, and documentation of creative economy businesses based on media design and science and technology
  • developing creative economy businesses based on media design and science and technology
  • hosting exhibitions and performances of creative economy businesses based on media design and science and technology;
  1. Coordination and facilitation:
  • disseminating the standards, norms, criteria, and procedures in the field of creative art design, architecture, fashion, film, and photography
  • facilitating creative economy businesses for the development of creativity.

The Gayo Lues Tourism Department is focused on managing the value of art and culture, such as Saman dance, from the perspective of research, assessment, inventory, development, and coordination.
