LDA – Lanka Decorative Arts is a non-profit association registered in 2010. Funding is sought from different sources to convene the workshops and conference. Overseas and local speakers have participated in the events.
International conferences were convened in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016. In 2018 LDA plans to have a Crafts conference in Jaffna in collaboration with the University of Jaffna. Currently LDA is convening conferences that bring together international speakers and students and faculty from all parts of the island presenting their socio-cultural and historical topics. LDA is working on building close relationships and reconciliation of the isolated parts of the north and east with the rest of the island. Using themes such as The Kitchen, they have enabled to bring socio-cultural and ethnographic, and historical themes to the forefront.
