GuthiSansthan aims to conserve heritage (both tangible and intangible). The main objectives of GuthiSansthan are to maintain as well as to preserve religious and social establishments, management of properties, prevention of source documents and records, support and conduct various different religious festivals and rituals. Other objectives of Guthi Sansthan are to manage the overall donation of different temples and also to lease and rent out the properties of Guthi according to the tender.
Guthi is a dynamic system of Nepalese Society directed by moral values, rituals and traditional managerial system. This system has done attractive management for preserving ritual, traditional and cultural value in our society. In another word it is a cooperative system in modern concept and values.
GuthiSansthan was established as an independent (self-run) institution entrusted to take care of the religious, cultural and social heritage of the country. It does not receive any subsidy from government nor is the revenue of GuthiSansthan deposited in government revenue. All the properties of the organization are called as “Dewaswa” which means “divine property”. The revenue of GuthiSansthan is generated from Guthi property and is spent for the sake of religious, cultural and social activities and for management and administrative overheads.
GuthiSansthan has been leasing out the lands, buildings for the works such as fishing, farming, shopping complex, etc. in order to collect funds. This organization has been managing the monuments and the temple premises.They have a management and maintenance fund to safeguard these heritages.
